View Date:2024-12-23 22:39:14
Bridget Bahl is sharing a difficult truth.
The influencer was diagnosed with breast cancer in the midst of preparing for her sixth IVF retrieval with husband Michael Chiodo.
Through tears, the 41-year-old expressed in a Sept. 22 Instagram video, “We just really want to have a baby.”
As Bridget, who tied the knot with Michael in August 2023, explained, she thought that the lump she felt in her breast a cyst, but after going in for imaging, a doctor sat her down to deliver concerning news. “She looked me in the eye,” Bridget recalled, “and she said, ‘Bridget, I have been doing this for a long time, and I do not like what I see.’”
After reviewing the MRI results, the doctors determined that Bridget does have breast cancer and that it “has spread to a lymph node.”
Tearfully relaying her diagnosis, Bridget shared, “I know that I’m going to be OK. I just also know that there is a really scary road ahead. And I don’t want to do it. But I believe through the grace of God I can do it.”
Calling her past few weeks “nothing short of a nightmare,” the Instagram star revealed that she will be undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, and possibly radiation.
“The good news is the type I have, it is very responsive to a targeted treatment,” she noted, urging fans to “do your self exams,” and to act with speed if anything comes up.
As for her fertility journey, Bridget shared that she and Michael plan to do another embryo transfer in the hopes that they can have another shot at welcoming their own biological child.
“I would just love to get another embryo,” she said, visibly emotional. “It would mean so much to me.”
Noting in her caption her fears for the months ahead, Bridget wrote, “I am not looking forward to the next few months but I know it will be a chapter in my life and not the whole book. While it’s hard to see it right now, I believe that God will transform this struggle into something beautiful.”
She added that she hopes her openness with her diagnosis will inspire other women who follow her to get checked.
